Our Story

Not Plain Jane is your local spot of joy, colour and well-made stuff in the leafy neighbourhood of Flemington.

Jane Lynch, our founder and Flemington local, opened the doors seven years ago after the team from our property styling business, Not Plain Jane Living, found themselves constantly answering queries about where our items came from.

Before we could think twice, a location popped up and what was once a ‘maybe’ idea, quickly turned into our bricks and mortar store on beautiful Pin Oak Crescent.

Not Plain Jane is a warm and friendly space that encourages you to linger for a chat (or to just smell our burning candle a little longer). We love to bring together our favourite products – many of which are Australian made and owned – that care about sustainability, quality and fun as much as we do.

We love our community here in Flemington and we love being the little shop that our neighbours come to for their gifting needs or a treat for themselves.
